Vatech VSP is small and light so it can be set up in a small-sized dental clinic efficiently.

Operation
First of all, it is important to train the operatiors to hold the side of protective covers when dropping the IP into PSP (Please see below photo). With the proper application training, we can avoid this incident.

If the protective cover gets stuck inside, the VSP will need to be disassembled.
The image in the manual and the sticker will be changed with the protective cover on.
One side will have the orange indication where the orange side of IP is facing to.
The dust issue is always critical for PSP systems, but VSP is designed to be prevented from dust.
The VSP is a rail system which has a magnet inside. There is no physical interaction between the IP and the rail therefore there is less risk of scractching/dusting the IP surface.
In addition, there is a weight under the lid where the IP slot is. The lid will remain closed except when inserting the IP which will prevent the dust to get in through the IP slot when not in use. Plus, the dust cover is provided for double protection. So far, less than 1% of total issues were caused by dust.
Network Setup
For 1:1 Direct Connection – DHCP = OFF
IP address needs to be set up manually on VSP. The default IP address is “192.168.39.171”. The default IP address will be already assigned to it if DHCP is off, however this is not fixed, can be adjustable. Throught VSP Finder, PC (which has the direct LAN cable connection) will pick up the IP address of VSP.
N Multiple Connection – DHCP = ON
IP address will be automatically assigend to VSP through LAN Hub/Router, hence no need to set up IP address on the VSP. Through VSP Finder, PC will pick up the IP address of VSP that is in the same network.
Software
The multi capture (FMX) function will be implemented in both SDK and TWAIN in 4th quarter of this year.
From your surgery PC, you open EzDent-i and click the patient name -> ‘Acquisition’ tap -> ‘Twain’ button on the left side -> ‘Acquire’ button
And then, you can find “Ready” pop up button on the right bottom which means that VSP is reserved for your PC

At the same time, you can see your PC name on VSP screen as below.
(* The name of the PC can be edited in “VSP.ini” file.)

While VSP is reserved, “Wait” will pop up on ther PCs and listed in the quiee.
Currently both EzDent-i and VSP are not displaying the waiting queue list and no time-out feature for reserving.
Both features are under the discussion.
Scan Time: the whole image processing time from beginning to end. From inserting IP into VSP to the final image (after image processing) displaying on Viewer SW.
Read-out Time: the duration of VSP reading the data on IP and producing the raw image.
The scan time for SR is longer because it collects more data in SR mode. Hence, the raw image for HR and SR is different. HR image can still be converted to SR, however, originally SR scanned image will produce the better image quility compared to HR -> SR converted image.
[Technology Comparison] MPPC vs PMT
MPPC uses a semiconductor which is insensitive to the magnetic field thus there is less metallic parts are used. As a result, VSP is noticeably light and compact, and less power is required to operate.
On the other hand, PMT uses a tube which is sensitive to the magnetic field thus a lot of metallic parts qre used to protect from the magnetic field. As a result, PSP with PMT tend to be heavier and requires more power to operate.

In addition, PMT sensor size i bigger than MPPC; a bigger gap is required between the sensor and IP for PMT. MPPC has a smaller sensor size; a shorte distance between the sensor and IP. More raw data can be obtained an improved in light receiving efficiency.

The default size will be changed to 1&2. For now, additional sizes need to be purchased. We will keep looking the options to meet market requirements.
